Terms and Conditions for More Than Words™ Certification Workshop Registration

Please read the following terms and conditions carefully. It is important that you understand what you are agreeing to and what The Hanen Centre’s policies include.

By registering for this workshop you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:

Mandatory Pre-Workshop Assignment
This workshop includes a mandatory pre-workshop assignment, which covers important content needed to participate in the workshop and receive your certification. The assignment is estimated to take between 3-5 hours, depending on which workshop you are attending.

If the assignment is not completed and submitted on time, participants will not be permitted to attend the workshop. Any refunds will be subject to the cancellation policy of the host organization AND may result in forfeiture of the entire registration fee.

Cancellation Policy
Cancellation by registrant

  • For workshops hosted by The Hanen Centre: 75% of workshop fee will be refunded if written notification of cancellation is received and a substitute can be found. No refunds will be given if a substitute cannot be found.
  • For Hanen Workshops presented by another organization: it is the responsibility of the registrant to contact said organization for details on their cancellation policy for this workshop. The Hanen Centre’s cancellation policy does not apply to workshops presented by another organization.

Cancellation by The Hanen Centre
If The Hanen Centre cancels a workshop after it has sent out email confirmation that the workshop will go ahead and if participants have already incurred travel and accommodation costs, The Hanen Centre may, at its own discretion, reimburse participants for travel and accommodation costs already incurred and that can be proven with official receipts. No other expenses will be considered for reimbursement.

Booking Travel and Accommodations
Workshop participants are responsible for researching and arranging their own travel and accommodations. Participants must wait for the final workshop go-ahead by email before incurring any non-refundable expenses. The Hanen Centre is not responsible for any losses incurred by a workshop registrant who books travel and accommodation before the workshop is officially confirmed as going ahead by email.

Enrollment is limited. Registrations are processed on a first-come, first-served basis and are not guaranteed until full payment has been received by The Hanen Centre or host organization.

Attendance and participation for the full three days of the workshop are mandatory. Arriving late to the first day of the workshop may result in the participant being denied admission to the workshop. Missing any other part of the workshop could result in the participant being unable to complete the workshop and/or not receiving his/her certification.

The pre-requisite for attending this workshop is an accredited degree in speech-language pathology/communication disorders/sciences as assessed by The Hanen Centre. The Hanen Centre reserves the right to verify the information provided at registration and may ask for additional information, or for copies of official documentation of a participant’s qualification. If payment is made by credit card through the Hanen website at the time of registration and a participant is found not to be eligible to attend, a refund will be given. The Hanen Centre reserves the right to revoke approval to attend a workshop without notice and potentially without refund if the information supplied is found to be inaccurate.

Proficiency in English
This workshop is conducted in English. Participants in a 3-day More Than Words workshop must have a minimum of advanced-level English in order to attend. Participants in a 4-day More Than Words workshop must have a minimum of intermediate-level English in order to attend (i.e. they must be able to understand English, respond to questions and contribute comfortably to group discussions, which involves practicing and applying concepts learned during the workshop). By accepting these terms and conditions you are confirming that your English is at the required level to participate fully in the workshop.
