Workshops for Early Childhood Professionals
The Hanen Centre has developed two workshops specifically for early childhood professionals who train or consult to early childhood educators.
These workshops provide you with practical, research-based tools for helping educators create the best possible environments for building the social, language and early literacy skills of preschool children.
Learning Language and Loving It™ Certification Workshop for Early Childhood Education Consultants/Trainers and Speech-Language Pathologists
This workshop certifies you to offer the evidence-based Learning Language and Loving It Program for Early Childhood Educators, and provides you with a valuable framework for working one-on-one with educators to help them promote the social, language and literacy skills of all children. You’ll learn the most effective ways to teach educators a child-centered approach to language facilitation and to help them apply responsive interaction strategies consistently and across contexts in their day-to-day interactions with children. Learning Language and Loving It ensures that all children in the classroom receive the support they need, including those with language delays and those who are second-language learners.
This workshop includes a comprehensive online pre-workshop assignment that familiarizes participants with the content of the Learning Language and Loving It Program, as well as three days of intensive small-group training which focuses on how to effectively deliver the Learning Language and Loving It Program content to early childhood educators.
Prerequisite for Early Childhood Education Consultants/Trainers: Diploma or degree in early childhood education or education. Experience with consulting, training or mentoring with other early childhood educators/teachers.

ABC and Beyond™ Advanced Workshop for Early Childhood Education Consultants/Trainers and Speech-Language Pathologists
The ABC and Beyond Workshop is designed for SLPs and early childhood educators who work in early childhood settings where early literacy is a priority. If you train or consult to educators who work with preschool children ages 3-5, the ABC and Beyond workshop can show you how to effectively teach educators practical strategies for using book reading and everyday conversations and activities to promote the seven building blocks of literacy: oral language, vocabulary, story comprehension, language of learning, print knowledge, and phonological awareness.
The workshop certifies you to offer the evidence-based ABC and Beyond Program to early childhood educators, and offers you a helpful framework for working one-on-one with educators to help them build literacy into day-to-day routines and interactions.
Prerequisite for Early Childhood Education Consultants/Trainers: Learning Language and Loving It Certification Workshop.
