Technical Requirements

Platform: Zoom
Hardware: You will need your own personal device for use throughout the workshop. You will not be able to share your device as only one participant can attend per device.
System Requirements:
  • a computer – one of: desktop/laptop/tablet (you may not attend on a smartphone)
  • the Zoom application installed onto your device
  • reliable internet connection (wired if possible)
  • webcam/microphone/speakers
  • two screens are recommended – one to attend the online class and the other to view session handouts.*
  • *You also have the option to print out the handouts
Important: Please ensure that you have all the items above before you register. If you register and then find that you cannot meet these requirements (with the exception of the second screen), you will not be permitted to attend the workshop. There are no refunds.

Attendance Requirements:This workshop is a licensing workshop which culminates in gaining a license to use the SPARK coaching methodology and the accompanying resources.

Full attendance is required. This means attending the full 2.5 hrs of every module and completing the two self-directed modules. No recordings will be available of the live sessions.

Absences will not be approved.
Please only register for a workshop for which you can attend all live group sessions in full. Please note that if you fail to meet the attendance requirements, you will not receive a license or a Certificate of Completion. There are no refunds.
Required workshop material:You will need access to the It Takes Two to Talk guidebook (Weitzman, 2017) in order to attend this training. Please wait for email instruction from The Hanen Centre before purchasing the guidebook.

Instructor personnel disclosure statement: Abi Bearn, MMedSci MRCSLT HCPC, is a speech and language therapist who has worked with preschool children with complex needs since 2000. Abi is contracted by The Hanen Centre to lead It Takes Two to Talk® and SPARK Communication™ workshops. She uses Hanen resources in her day-to day work with families and also offers It Takes Two to Talk® and More Than Words® programs to parents.

Translation policy Hanen resources are protected by international copyright law. No translations are permitted without advance written permission from The Hanen Centre.
Language:Due to the fast-paced, highly interactive nature of our workshops, participants must have a high proficiency in English (i.e. they must be able to understand English, respond to questions and contribute comfortably to group discussions, which involves practicing and applying concepts learned during the workshop). All materials will be provided in English.
Cancellations: 100% of the workshop fee will be refunded if written notification of cancellation is received before the start date of the workshop and a substitute can be found. No refunds if a substitute cannot be found.

Please note that we cannot provide refunds for partially attended workshops. However, you have the option of registering for a future workshop for an administrative fee of $279, with the same full attendance requirement. Please note that most advertised workshops are currently full and we cannot take reservations.
