Course Overview
When a child has a language delay, everyone is eager to hear them use more words. But we know that if we jump right into language goals before establishing interaction skills, we’ve skipped a critical step in preparing children to learn language.
This e-seminar helps you create a shared understanding with parents on why interaction must come before language, and it offers concrete tools for collaborating effectively with parents to set interaction goals. You’ll have the opportunity to:
- Enhance your understanding of the importance of interaction goals
- Watch real-life examples of children with different communication styles and see how they could benefit from interaction goals
- See clear video examples of how to collaborate with parents to set interaction goals
- Learn how to use Hanen’s Stages of Communication Checklist and Five Key Interaction Questions to enhance parents’ understanding and participation in the goal-setting process.
Note: Some of the content of this e-Seminar is drawn from the It Takes Two to Talk® workshop, and will be a review for It Takes Two to Talk-certified SLPs.
