Children's Language and Literacy Program Workshop and Resources

Support for Speech-Language Pathologists who Work in Early Childhood Settings

As a speech-language pathologist who offers consultation in early childhood settings, you know how important it is for educators to have the tools to create enriched and interactive language-learning environments.

That’s why it’s necessary to have practical, user-friendly resources to share with educators that will really help them understand how to promote children’s language and literacy development. It is also critical to be familiar with the principles of adult education so that you can facilitate educators’ learning in ways that foster retention and application of interactive strategies, making long-term behavior change more likely.

The Hanen Centre has developed specialized training workshops for speech-language pathologists, as well as several practical, research-based resources that can help you effect lasting change in early childhood environments and promote the kind of educator-child interactions that are optimal for children’s learning.

Learning Language and Loving It™ Certification Workshop for Speech-Language Pathologists and Early Childhood Education Consultants/Trainers

This workshop includes a comprehensive online  pre-workshop assignment that familiarizes participants with the  content of the Learning Language and Loving It Program, as well as three days of intensive small-group training which focuses on how to effectively deliver the Learning Language and Loving It Program content to early childhood educators.

Although the training is not as intensive as Learning Language and Loving It and does not include individualized coaching and videotaping, it does cover the key principles and strategies of that program.

If you are not Learning Language and Loving It-trained, you may still find Teacher Talk workbooks useful in one-to-one consultations with educators to help them learn simple strategies for fostering language-rich learning environments.
