The You Make The Difference® Parent-Child Communication Program
The You Make The Difference® Parent-Child Communication Program is a community-based, General Education/Prevention program that encourages positive parent-child interactions. You Make The Difference gives parents the tools they need to make a difference during their child’s early years – a difference that enriches the parent-child relationship and sets the child up for future success both inside and outside of school.
Program Features:
- Delivered by a licensed You Make The Difference Group Leader with specialized Hanen training
- Nine Session Program provided through local community agencies offered to groups of parents (up to 8 families per group)
- Includes a fun and interactive 90-minute parent group, followed by an individual one-on-one parent-child session
What parents learn:
- Recognize the important role they play in their child’s early learning and development
- Learn specific ways of positively connecting and communicating with their child so that they can use everyday routines and activities to foster and enrich their child’s early language, social and literacy development
- Build confidence in their ability to help their child learn
- Build individual skills and confidence in reaching out and connecting with their community
- Increase awareness of any developmental needs their child may have so that they can be linked with other services to promote early identification as required
