Overview
Learning Language and Loving It™- The Hanen Program for Early Childhood Educators/Teachers is a research based developmental approach to promoting children’s social, language and literacy development within everyday activities and conversations in a variety of early childhood settings including child care, preschool, and nursery and kindergarten programs. This includes those who are at risk for language delays, who have language disorders and who are learning English as a second language.
The Learning Language and Loving It program and resources are used in a variety of ways by professionals in the field of early childhood education including;
- Early childhood educators/teachers
- Centre-based or home-based child care providers
- Speech-language pathologists/therapists
- Early childhood or Literacy consultants
- Professors or Instructors in the field of early childhood education

Prevention of Language Delays
By helping teachers create a language-rich, highly interactive environment for children at risk for language delays
Early Language Intervention
By helping teachers provide children who have identified language delays with a highly interactive language-learning environment geared to each child's individual language level and conversational style
Language Enrichment
By helping teachers provide typically developing children with an enriched language-learning environment that builds on their existing language skills and promotes the development of the language of learning
Teacher Talk™:
The Teacher Talk Training Series was developed to introduce educators to the Learning Language and Loving It approach when:
- It is not possible to provide a Learning Language and Loving It Program
- There are a large number of participants who want training
- Training is needed for those waiting for Learning Language and Loving It Program
The Learning Language and Loving It Program and Teacher Talk Training Series are delivered by SLP/Ts who are Hanen certified or Early Childhood Education Consultants/Trainers who are Learning Language and Loving It Program Leaders. For information about the LLLI Train-the-Trainer Workshop:
