The Hanen Centre’s Copyright Policy

Copyright is the right, or the right to permit others to produce, publish or copy a work. “Copying” means reproducing, publishing, translating or communicating a work using various means and media, including the Internet.
At The Hanen Centre, we make every effort to protect our copyright to maintain the quality and integrity of Hanen training and resources. We must approve materials which include the Hanen trademark.  We ask to see these materials in advance not only to comply with copyright laws, but also to help you deliver the best information possible.
When should I contact The Hanen Centre for advance permission?
  • If you want to produce written materials which include information from Hanen resources for use in any clinical service, including handouts and brochures.
  • If you want to copy more than the 10 pages from any Hanen guidebook
  • If you want to reproduce illustrations from Hanen resources.
  • If you want to translate part or all of any Hanen resource for any purpose.
  • If you want to copy or reproduce any part of the Hanen Web site for any purpose.
May I create presentations based on Hanen resources and programs?
You may share general information about Hanen Programs with your community in informal presentations where no fee is charged and the venue is not an official conference. Please credit The Hanen Centre when referring to components of our programs.
May I translate Hanen resources?
Translation of Hanen resources in part or in whole for any use, whether personal or professional, is strictly prohibited.  All translations must be licensed through The Hanen Centre prior to being produced.  Our policy requires us to plan translations carefully to ensure that copyright and quality control are addressed.  If you are interested in working with The Hanen Centre to create a translation of a Hanen resource in a particular language, please contact us.
Who should I contact for more information?
If you have a request for permission, or require further information on copying Hanen resources, please send your inquiry to the attention of the Copyright Committee at copyright@hanen.org or call (416) 921-1073 for more information.
If you are a Hanen certified SLP/T and are interested in running an adapted program, please log in to your member area for more information.
