Research

The Target Word Program was developed as a result of successful research on the It Takes Two to Talk Program, which included focused stimulation (frequent, highly concentrated presentations of pre-selected language targets). Target Word provides early language intervention for children with expressive language delays, helping their parents learn to apply responsive language facilitation strategies such as “interpret your child’s message” and focused stimulation. This program draws from research that identifies strategies implemented by caregivers that are known to enhance very young children’s expressive language development.
