Workshops for Speech-Language Pathologists: Working with Educators

Learning Language and Loving It™ Certification Workshop – For SLPs and Early Childhood Education Consultants/Trainers with no previous Hanen training

If you are specifically interested in training educators to build the social, language, and early literacy skills of preschool children, and you have no previous Hanen training, you may take the Learning Language and Loving It™ Certification Workshop.

Learning Language and Loving It provides you with an effective framework for empowering educators to create the kinds of enriched language-learning environments that help all children learn, whether they’re typically developing, have or are at risk for language delays, or are second-language learners. You’ll learn how to help educators apply responsive interaction strategies consistently and across contexts in their day-to-day interactions with children.

Learning Language and Loving It provides an effective teaching methodology that accommodates all learning styles and maximizes educators’ ability to both understand and effectively apply their learning during everyday routines and activities with children.  The workshop certifies you to offer the Learning Language and Loving It Program for Early Childhood Educators, and gives you access to a Teacher Talk™ license and resources to offer the Teacher Talk Training Series to educators.

This workshop includes a comprehensive online pre-workshop assignment that familiarizes participants with the content of the Learning Language and Loving It Program, as well as three days of intensive small-group training which focuses on how to effectively deliver the Learning Language and Loving It Program content to early childhood educators.

A one-year, renewable Hanen membership is included in the cost of the workshop.

Workshop eligibility:

SLPs: Masters Degree (from US/Canada) or Bachelors Degree (from UK/Australia/New Zealand) or other international equivalent, in Speech-Language Pathology

Educators: Diploma or degree in early childhood education or education, as well as experience with consulting, training or mentoring other educators.

Learning Language and Loving It™ Advanced Workshop – For SLPs who have taken the It Takes Two to Talk® Certification Workshop

Speech-language pathologists who have already taken the It Takes Two to Talk® Certification Workshop should attend the Learning Language and Loving It Advanced Workshop, rather than the Learning Language and Loving It Certification Workshop. The advanced workshop builds on content on adult learning that is introduced in the It Takes Two to Talk Workshop and does not require completion of a comprehensive pre-workshop online assignment.

Workshop prerequisite: It Takes Two to Talk Certification Workshop

ABC and Beyond™ Advanced Workshop

The Hanen’s newest workshop, ABC and Beyond™, is for those who have taken either the It Takes Two to Talk Certification Workshop or the Learning Language and Loving It Certification Workshop.

Focusing on emergent literacy development in early childhood settings, ABC and Beyond is right for you if you train or consult to educators of preschool-aged children (3-5 years of age) in settings where early literacy development is a priority.

The workshop certifies you to lead the ABC and Beyond Program for Building Emergent Literacy in Early Childhood Settings, and shows you how to help educators learn and apply practical strategies for using book reading and everyday conversations and activities to promote the six building blocks of literacy: oral language, vocabulary, story comprehension, language of learning, print knowledge, and phonological awareness.

Workshop prerequisite: Learning Language and Loving It Certification Workshop OR It Takes Two to Talk Certification Workshop
