Children's Language and Literacy Program Workshop and Resources

Support for Speech-Language Pathologists who Work in Early Childhood Settings

As a speech-language pathologist who offers consultation in early childhood settings, you know how important it is for educators to have the tools to create enriched and interactive language-learning environments.

That’s why it’s necessary to have practical, user-friendly resources to share with educators that will really help them understand how to promote children’s language and literacy development. It is also critical to be familiar with the principles of adult education so that you can facilitate educators’ learning in ways that foster retention and application of interactive strategies, making long-term behavior change more likely.

The Hanen Centre has developed specialized training workshops for speech-language pathologists, as well as several practical, research-based resources that can help you effect lasting change in early childhood environments and promote the kind of educator-child interactions that are optimal for children’s learning.

Learning Language and Loving It™ Certification Workshop for Speech-Language Pathologists and Early Childhood Education Consultants/Trainers

The Learning Language and Loving It™ Certification Workshop is designed for SLPs and educators with no previous Hanen training who work in early childhood settings with children from birth to five years of age. The workshop certifies you to offer the evidence-based Learning Language and Loving It Program for Early Childhood Educators, and provides you with a valuable framework for working one-on-one with educators to help them promote the social, language and literacy skills of all children. You’ll learn the most effective ways to teach educators a child-centered approach to language facilitation and to help them apply responsive interaction strategies consistently and across contexts in their day-to-day interactions with children.

This workshop includes a comprehensive online  pre-workshop assignment that familiarizes participants with the  content of the Learning Language and Loving It Program, as well as three days of intensive small-group training which focuses on how to effectively deliver the Learning Language and Loving It Program content to early childhood educators.
