How Hanen Helps Speech-Language Pathologists who Work with Children on the Autism Spectrum
As speech-language professionals working with children on the autism spectrum, we know that the most effective early intervention strategy is one that involves parents. While we know this to be important, how we involve parents is equally important.
Parents are adult learners with specific needs, goals, life experiences and knowledge. They want practical help from us, and they want it to be relevant to themselves and their child.

To help families of children with on the autism spectrum, Hanen developed More Than Words® and TalkAbility™ – family-focused programs that shows parents how they can effectively build their child's communication skills during everyday routines and activities. The More Than Words® Certification Workshop
In this highly interactive workshop, SLPs gain a comprehensive framework for working effectively with families of children on the autism spectrum. The workshop certifies you to lead the More Than Words Program for Parents of Children on the Autism Spectrum and provides you with a set of outstanding resources for working with parents in both group one-to-one settings.
Once certified in More Than Words, SLPs become eligible to attend TalkAbility™ – the Advanced Hanen Workshop for supporting the higher-level language skills required for successful conversations and relationships.

The TalkAbility Advanced Workshop certifies you to lead the TalkAbility program for parents. You’ll learn the most effective ways to empower parents to use everyday routines and interactions to build the social skills and special language abilities required for more successful back-and-forth conversations and relationships.
