Position: Speech-language pathologist
Job type: Full-time

We are looking for a Hanen SLP who has had three or more years of clinical experience working with families of young children with communication or language disorders.

Reporting to the Clinical Program Directors, this full-time SLP position involves clinical and non-clinical responsibilities. These include offering Hanen Programs (More Than Words® and/or It Takes Two to Talk®), as well as working collaboratively with Program Directors, other SLPs and non-clinical colleagues on a variety of interesting projects and initiatives that help us support parents and professionals around the world.  

Projects are varied and stimulating, involving tasks such as assisting with updating or revision of program resources, contributing to newsletters for members and students, offering presentations to faculty and students locally and outside of Canada, and assisting in the development of online tutorials or modules for parents or professionals. Support and training are provided, recognizing that this type of work may be new for many SLPs!

This position will involve working remotely unless the successful candidate lives in the GTA or close to Toronto. Currently, we are working from home, but are considering some form of a hybrid model after March 2022 for staff living in the GTA.


Primary Responsibilities
  • Leading Hanen Programs for Parents (More Than Words® and/or It Takes Two to Talk®)
  • Resource and product development – participate in the development of new resources and products and the revision of existing resources and programs
  • Support for Hanen members – participate in the development of member-related resources such as e-seminars, tutorials, and articles for the WigWag newsletter
  • Presentations – provide presentations to students and professionals
  • Conferences – represent The Hanen Centre® locally and internationally
  • Research – participate in research projects
  • Writing – write articles for member and student newsletters, for the website and other audiences
  • Other duties as assigned


Key Requirements
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in speech-language pathology (CASLPO license is required)
  • Current Hanen membership
  • Three or more years’ experience working with families of young children with communication or language disorders
  • Experience offering Hanen Programs is a definite asset
  • Strong presentation skills
  • High level critical and evaluative skills
  • Ability and willingness to take initiative
  • Well-organized and able to handle multiple priorities within deadlines
  • Effective writing skills – for both professional and non-professional audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent oral communication skills
  • Strong computer skills, including facility with PowerPoint

Start Date – Feb/March 2022
